Kensinton Gardens Long Term Care:

Situated in downtown Toronto's Kensington district. We took photographs of the local Victorian architecture to create a variety of digital images further enhanced with artists brushstrokes for the sign images. Each floor colour was also used with the pictures to create a unique look for each area of the facility. This 4 level facility with 280 beds also required directories for wayfinding. The client and residents alike were very pleased with the comfortable yet effective results of our designs and Convex+ sign system.

ROSS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL - LINDSAY ONTARIO:

DOI was engaged as the wayfinding & signage consultants to develop a comprehensive program to unite the various new spaces with the existing facility.
After much consultation with the owner, architects and project manager DOI prepared a new wayfinding program, which also required a new floor (levels) and room numbering scheme. This was required to solve the current confusion regarding the 3 different level accesses and entry points to the building.
The client is very excited to implement the new program along with the Innerface Convex+ signage system. The ability to update and maintain the signs “In House” was a priority for the new sign system.
The exterior signage plan was also part of the overall program and included new Main entry and directional signs.

Victoria Village Long Term Care - BARRIE ONTARIO:

This exciting project offered many challenges. As a retro fit of the original Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario the building has evolved into a beutiful long term care facility located in the downtown area. Our Convex+ sign system was selected for its easy to maintain "In House" features. THe sign inserts were designed with a Victorian Theme with matching colours for each of the resident floors. This new look gave the signs a warm "homey" look that blended into the decor of the building yet served its purpose as an effective sign system. All of this ond with in budget too!.

West Nipissing Hospital (Iriquois Falls Ont.):

This medium sized regional hospital recently added a new Doctor's medical offices facilty which indroduced new wayfinding challenges to hospital staff, but mostly patients and visitors. We were contracted to complete a master wayfinding and signage program that resulted in a new Convex+ sign program for the entire facility. A new master directory, along with overhead and wall mounted sub-directories were strategicaly placed to guide all visitors and patients, along with new room signs. International symbols were used as much as possible as French was the primary language along with English text. The new common look to the sign design and colour helped everyone recognize the system as a tool to help in the direction and identification of all key areas of the hospital. Another successful project by DOI.

SOUTH MUSKOKA HOSPITAL (Bracebridge Ont):

Recently completed after a lenghty retrofit and new addition. This facility required a complete revamping of it's signage and wayfinding needs. DOI worked very closely with the hospital staff to create a unique look and effective sign system that could be easily updated by staff. Convex+ was the answer. While construction persued many changes were required, this was done with no problem, we simply printed new inserts quickly and easily. The hospital now has it's own in house way to keep their sign system looking up-to-date at a very low cost.

VILLA FORUM:

A 200 BED long term facility with an Italian Flair!. Beautifuly designed and decorated to please the large mostly Italian local population. Again we used local art of an Italian theme to create beautiful images as part of the Convex+ sign system. Without doubt the residents instantly identified with the signs as familiar symbols to help them with wayfinding and room identification. Again DOI & Convex+ were successful im meeting the client's objectives.

QUEENS GARDENS:

This New state of the art 200 BED long term care facility chose DOI and Convex+ for their wayfinding and room identification sign system. Unique images of the local area were painted by a local artist , digitized and printed on the sign inserts which offered residents a pleasant and easily recognized neighbourhood feeling. Colours were matched to the various neighbourhood areas to assist in wayfinding. Overall the Client and residents were thrilled with the simple yet attractive solution to signage within this elegant facility.
